Take a train to Utrecht, sure, no problem, just apple pie, or honey and goat cheese salad
in my case, but the ICE´s to Germany..
The second time I got stranded because of railway track problems, an extra train, phew ok, so no problem then, then it stops in the tiniest station of Germany ever, oh so it seemed, where there is no train and I´m standing there in the freezing cold without a jacket, great!
After heaps of confusion we are allowed to board a night train that made an extra stop there,
as soon as all those waiting people, masses, loads! get in the wagons, the electricity goes beserk and boom, we are all in the dark, taking up free beds and sitting on them..
Tired strangers in the dark.
I shared my lodge with a girl from Siberia. We ended up talking about coldness
and she said it wasn´t that cold in Siberia and only if the temperature would reach minus 46 celcius the younger onese could stay in, the older students would still go to school.
The coldest she had experienced was minus 56,5 degrees. Omg!
I pushed my legs towards the upper bed and had to laugh after the bed almost came down on top of me, the whole experience seemed rather hilarious!
Arriving at Duesseldorf from where there doesn´t seem to be
any train going until LATE, as in probably too late.
I would have had 7 minutes to run through an airport to my check-in counter,
no way! Stressed like a running chicken that got it´s head cut off I start
calling my ticket guy, arrange the counters phone number and call them
desperately that I´m coming but it will be soooo close!
Only after I found out about another train to Basel that took me to the airport on time,
all that stress for nuthin!
I call Cristian and he quiets me down. He tells me he would like to make a documentary,
about me. One day a year, for many years, making a chronological story..
We laugh about a young man, full of dreams and ideals, but he basically spends his life
chasing women all over the planet in stead. A bit of a new form to an old tragedy maybe, having all those dreams when you still think you have the time and the world that will be yours one day,
and then, well, the youth is wasted on the youthful. As they say, we would like to have more time but seem to spend it so badly most of the time.
Anyway! ;p
I make the plane and after confusion and long waiting before boarding, I´m on the plane sitting next to Paula and Laura, two sisters and just three rows before us a baby that has potential to be an opera singer later, or an opera screamer at least. Thank god the batteries run out after two and half hours of screaming. The batteries are charged again by morning though. Good gracious God almighty! Thou young creatures really now how to state out loud: I´m in discontent!
1 movie, 3 airplane meals and water refills and a stop in Santa Domingo later, I make it to a taxi
that drives fast and slow and pulls up really fast again and stops with all the traffic around that besides a head-ache I now officially feel like puking too. I arrive before check-in time at Bekuo Hostel and crash on their couch. An actual place where you can lie down..
